Helena Ultra Runners League (HURL)

The Helena Ultra Runners League (HURL) is a non-profit 501(c)3 public charity. We are a 100% volunteer organization whose mission is to:

  1. Organize and promote opportunities for weekly training runs, adventure runs, and the annual Elkhorn Endurance Runs in the Elkhorn Mountains of southwestern Montana;
  2. Provide resources, funding and leadership towards their primary mission of enjoying, maintaining, improving, and developing the trail systems in the Helena, Montana area;
  3. Identify and cultivate relationships with individuals, groups, corporations, and entities that provide or promote recreational activities and outdoor aid.

Volunteer With HURL

Since 2005 the Helena Ultra Running League (HURL) has organized the Elkhorn Endurance Runs –Montana’s oldest active trail ultra. To continue hosting this top notch, safe, and fun event, we need community involvement. People can help by filling the positions described here: HURL Elkhorn Endurance Races Organizational Chart. Donations

Elkhorn Endurance Runs works in cooperation with the Helena Lewis and Clark National Forest and makes annual donations to local non-profit organizations that help our Helena running community and this event happen: Prickly Pear Land Trust, Capital City Amateur Radio Club, Elkhorn Search and Rescue, Capital Trail Vehicle Association, Backcountry Horsemen, and the Montana City Volunteer Fire Department.

Part of HURL’s mission is “To provide resources, funding, and leadership towards their primary mission of enjoying, maintaining, improving, and developing the trail systems in the Helena, Montana area”. This Donation Policy outlines how the Board of Directors evaluates donation requests. The Donation Form can be used to request consideration of a donation from HURL.

Our group runs can take us to remote and wild locations. This HURL Group Activity Policy outlines what you should expect from these adventure runs.  We welcome anyone who wants to join us in experiencing Montana’s backcountry, but you’ll need to sign the policy first.
