Helena is located just east of the Continental Divide in west-central Montana, and is mid-way between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. We have many outdoor recreational opportunities in the surrounding Helena National Forest, including the Scapegoat, Bob Marshall, Gates of the Mountains, and Pintlar Wilderness areas, as well as numerous rivers and lakes.
Primary access to Helena from the north or south is via Interstate 15. From the west, access is via Interstate 90, and Highway 12 East. From the east, access is via Interstate 90, and US 287. Helena Regional Airport (HLN) also has daily flights on Delta Connection from Salt Lake City and Minneapolis, on United Express from Denver, and on Alaska Airlines from Seattle. Other area airports within two hours driving time of Helena include Butte (BTM), Bozeman (BZN), Great Falls (GTF), and Missoula (MSO).

Trail runners in Helena are fortunate to have an extensive trail system accessible from downtown, thanks largely to the Prickly Pear Land Trust.
Because we enjoy our area trails so much and so often, HURL donates all unspent race funds to PPLT to support their efforts.
