Helena is located east of the Continental Divide in west-central Montana. We’re a sleepy town with over 80 miles of trails in the backyard. Helena is mid-way to everything: Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, the Bob Marshall, Gates of the Mountains and Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness areas, and world renown rivers.
Getting Here
Road: Helena sits on I‑15 with US‑12 running east–west over MacDonald Pass, putting it about 1–2 hours from Butte, Bozeman, Great Falls, and Missoula by well‑maintained highways
Air: Helena Regional Airport (HLN) has daily flights on Delta from Salt Lake City and Minneapolis, on United Airlines from Denver, and on Alaska Airlines from Seattle. Other area airports within two hours driving time of Helena include Butte (BTM), Bozeman (BZN), Great Falls (GTF), and Missoula (MSO).

- Cruise Gates of the Mountains boat tour for canyon views and Lewis & Clark history
- Walk Last Chance Gulch’s pedestrian mall for coffee, food, shops, and history
- Visit the Montana State Capitol and Montana Historical Society Museum
- See the Cathedral of Saint Helena’s stained glass and Gothic Revival architecture
